Gio Schiano (XX) created Red Vertigo, an abstract sculpture in cast methacrylate, 30 × 30 × 7 cm, of Italian origin, signed, edition 12/50, in excellent condition, with red and white colours.
Description from the seller
Red Vertigo is not traditional sculpture in the figurative sense, but an abstract object that, through its form, color, and materiality, creates a visual tension. The bold red and the white methacrylate create optical depth and dynamism that vary in interaction with light and space when one views the sculpture.
Schiano's works – including Red Vertigo – show influences from design and art movements such as the Memphis Group, Pop Art, Op Art, and geometric abstraction. These shape his interest in form, color, perception, and space.
Gio Schiano combines in his sculptures elements of geometric abstraction, kinetic optics, and minimalist design. The works are usually clearly structured, rely on color impact and materiality, and aim to invite the viewer to an active visual and emotional experience.
Gio Schiano is an Italian contemporary artist, born in 1976 in Naples. After technical training, he initially worked in the fields of graphic design and photography before turning more to fine art.
His artistic practice is multidisciplinary and encompasses sculpture, object art, photography, painting, and design. Characteristic of his works are geometric shapes, bold colors, and optical effects, often realized with materials such as methacrylate (acrylic/plexiglass), ceramics, wood, or mixed media.
In 2009, Schiano founded the Moga Group, a platform for limited editions by artists and designers, which contributed significantly to his international visibility. His works show influences from geometric abstraction, Op Art, Pop Art, and the postmodern design of the Memphis movement.
Works by Gio Schiano have been exhibited internationally and are in private collections in Europe, the USA, Japan, and Australia. His art deliberately sits at the intersection of contemporary art and collectible design.
