Description of the work
The lithograph depicts a choral scene with human figures immersed in an animated interior, linked to the thematic cycle of the Characters, recurring in Squillantini's mature body of work. The faces, strongly expressive and deliberately distorted, convey an intense emotional tension, typical of his figurative poetics rooted in expressionist aesthetics.
The composition is articulated by overlapping layers, with a warm, vibrant palette dominated by ochre, blues, reds, and oranges, which lends depth and dynamism to the whole while maintaining a strong painterly quality, even in the lithographic technique.
