Description from the seller
Juraj Dobrović (1928 - ) was born in 1928 in Jelsa. He finished school in Jelsa, Bol and Split. He graduated from the Faculty of Economics and Art History at the Faculty of Philosophy of Zagreb. He was one of the Croatian representatives of op art. In the 1960s he appeared on the Croatian art scene. He exhibited independently in Croatia and around the world from 1962, and participated in group exhibitions from 1963. At that time, Zagreb became one of the main centers of contemporary art thanks to the international movement New Tendencies. He remained faithful to traditional materials and to the simplicity of white. In 1972 he exhibited at the Venice Biennale in the parallel exhibition Graphic Art Today, and with him exhibited Miroslav Šutej, Ivan Picelj, Edo Murtić and Virgilije Nevjestić. He also exhibited at the São Paulo Biennale in 1973. He participated in exhibitions with famous artists whose poetics and visual syntax were based on the language of geometry. He is an artist who has shown a rare systematic approach to work, with his research in the field of visual and plastic design, but at the same time he was also a true metaphysician for his extreme commitment to the purity of his work.
This artwork is a very beautiful screen print, 70×70 cm, signed and numbered 4/40.
