Description from the seller
Juniper Bonsai with Natural Deadwood – Semi-Cascade (Han-kengai) – Compact Collector Tree
⸻
Description
This refined Juniper bonsai is a compact yet highly expressive specimen, carefully trained in the Semi-Cascade style (Han-kengai), a classic form inspired by trees growing on rocky mountain slopes and exposed cliffs.
The composition is defined by a strong, sinuous trunk with a diameter of approximately 4 cm, displaying excellent natural movement and character. The trunk emerges with power from the nebari and then flows laterally, creating a dynamic and asymmetrical silhouette that is both balanced and visually engaging.
One of the most striking features of this bonsai is the presence of well-developed natural deadwood, including:
• Jin (dead branches), enhancing the sense of age and exposure
• Shari (exposed deadwood along the trunk), which clearly defines the contrast between the living vein and the weathered wood
These elements evoke the image of an ancient juniper shaped over time by wind, sun, and harsh alpine conditions.
The foliage is dense, healthy, and compact, with well-distributed pads that emphasize depth and perspective while leaving the deadwood clearly visible. The overall structure is harmonious and already well established, making this bonsai suitable both for advanced collectors and for enthusiasts looking for a tree with strong character and future refinement potential.
The tree is planted in a rectangular ceramic bonsai pot, whose understated green glaze complements the foliage and enhances the naturalistic appearance of the composition.
