AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

A suite of twenty lithographs on large-format BFK Rives paper in their original portfolio.
From a print run of 200 copies, produced with the agreement and under the supervision of the Matisse Estate.

Each lithograph bears on the back the copyright of the Henri Matisse Estate, as well as that of the publisher.

Moreno Éditions, Paris, 2007.

Perfect condition

Careful international shipping

Entirely designed by Matisse between 1943 and 1947 at the request of publisher Tériade, Jazz is the fruit of a period of introspection and renewal for the artist. While recuperating, he develops the technique of cut gouaches. The images he creates, “crystallizations of memories of the circus, of folk tales or of travels,” are an explosion of bright colors and bold shapes. “Cutting into color with immediacy reminds me of the direct carving of sculptors. This book was conceived in that spirit.”
