Legendary Sixten Ivarsson Blasted 3-Knuckle Bamboo Shank Billiard, Made in 1964 — With Certificate of Authenticity, Shop Restored
A museum-quality masterpiece from the peak of Sixten Ivarsson's creative period. A blast-finished billiard featuring his signature 3-knuckle bamboo shank, representing the golden age of Danish pipe making. Fully restored by a Danish pipe shop and in near-mint condition.
Specifications:
• Bowl outer diameter: 3.1cm (chamber diameter 1.8cm)
• Bowl height: 4.5cm
• Overall length: 14.8cm
• Weight: 25g (remarkably lightweight design)
• Year of manufacture: 1964 (stamped on shank)
Condition: Fully restored by a Danish pipe shop, in clean and pristine condition. Near-mint condition with the 61-year-old piece restored to its original state. The blasted briar retains its original deep grain and texture, while the bamboo shank has developed an attractive amber patina from aging. The vulcanite stem has also been cleanly restored to its original condition.
Authenticity: Comes with a certificate of authenticity issued by a long-established pipe shop in Vejle, Denmark (founded 1963). This shop has supported Danish pipe culture for over half a century as a historic specialist store.
Sixten Ivarsson Stampings:
1960s-early 1970s: Early works (1960s) frequently feature "AN IVARSSON PRODUCT" stamping without sun mark. Example: 1969 sandblast + bamboo stamping shows "AN IVARSSON" / year / "PRODUCT."
Circa 1980s: Around 1982, many Ivarsson pipes begin featuring stampings with sun mark (Sun Stamp). Marked as "AN IVARSSON PRODUCT + year + SUN STAMP."
1990s-2000s: Sun stamp stamping confirmed on 1995 examples. During this period, stampings with sun mark were used relatively consistently.
Era Stamping Tendency
1960s "AN IVARSSON PRODUCT" only. Often without sun mark
~1970s Stamping variations exist, but sun mark begins to establish
1980s-90s With Sun Stamp (sun mark) generally common
Historical Significance: Sixten Ivarsson (1910-1973) is recognized as one of the founders of Danish freehand pipe making. His bamboo shank works from the 1960s are particularly highly valued among collectors.
