Roberto Sebastian Matta is one of the leading figures of abstract expressionism and surrealism worldwide. His travels in Europe and the United States and his encounters with figures such as René Magritte, Salvador Dalí, and Pablo Picasso expanded Matta's painting experience well beyond the borders of Chilean art culture, establishing him as an internationally significant personality.
