Joan Miró, Sala Pelaires, 1970, lithograph, limited edition, hand-signed in the lower right, 75.7 x 55.7 cm, Spain.
Description from the seller
Joan Miró (1893-1983).
Sala Pelaires. It is a contemporary artwork created by Joan Miró in 1970. Color lithograph on Guarro paper. Hand-signed in the lower right margin. Numbered AP (artist's proof) on the lower left.
The work was produced on the occasion of the Artist's Exhibition held at Sala Pelaires in Palma de Mallorca in 1970. Edition of 75 copies plus A.P. With a stamp visible through the paper, Sala Gaspar. Reference: Joan Miró Lithographe IV 1969-1972, Maeght Éditeur. p.82 no.684 and Sala Gaspar 117.
This is a proof reserved outside the commercial edition, which gives it an especially singular character within the graphic production of the work. The composition is fully in Miró's mature language from the late sixties and early seventies, with his characteristic symbolic universe: free signs, balance between gesture and empty space, and a visual poetics where line and color function as autonomous elements of expression. Measurements (unframed): 76 x 56 cm. Condition: good, with normal signs of age, in keeping with the paper’s age, without detriment to the aesthetic quality or to the integrity of the work.
A piece of notable interest for its avant la lettre status and its P.A. status, especially attractive to collectors and scholars of Joan Miró's graphic works.
