This is an exclusive work from an early period of Jan Sierhuis (1928-2023), in which two intertwined figures are depicted in an expressive manner.
After the war, Jan Sierhuis developed into an expressionist painter, influenced by, among others, Van Gogh, Matisse, and Picasso. Together with Appel, Corneille, and Lucebert, he found himself at the heart of the post-war developments in art.
In 1945, Sierhuis was admitted to the evening course at the Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten, which he left after a conflict.
