In the 1990s, a group of industrial landscapes emerged. Since then, the Ruhr region has undergone considerable changes, and on previously abandoned slag-heap surfaces architectures have arisen as landmarks of the industrial landscape. The “Hallenhaus” on the Norddeutschland slag heap, depicted as a skeletal steel framework, symbolizes the past of industrial architecture and the unstoppable structural change.
