Tapies, Improvisations in white and black 2 (Large format), a 1987 lithograph in a limited edition 17/60, hand-signed, in good condition, 125 cm high by 94 cm wide, sold with frame, from Spain.
Description from the seller
Beautiful work by Tapies. Small edition of 60 works. Arches paper.
This is documented in Homs, N. (2009). Tàpies – Graphic works, Graphic works 1987 – 1994. Gustavo Gili, SA Publishers, Barcelona, p. 65. No. 1134.
The rough texture and earthy tones give the work a tangible, almost physical presence. As is often the case in Tàpies’ oeuvre, objects function not as utilitarian items, but as signs—carriers of memory, the body, and impermanence. The chair can be read as a place of absence or waiting, while the scissors refer to intervention, separation, or vulnerability.
Dimensions without frame: 105 x 75 cm
Shipping may be after the auction.
