Description from the seller
Guido Locca
(1901–1969)
The lover
Pencil on paper, hand-signed at the bottom right.
Elegant drawing depicting a nude female figure in a reclining and sinuous pose, with the arm raised behind the head. The work fits fully within the Art Déco language, of which Guido Locca was one of the most refined interpreters in the Swiss sphere. The line is fluid and essential, built on the rhythm of the silhouette rather than on anatomical detail, with a formal synthesis that exalted grace, balance, and modernity.
The face, only hinted at yet intensely expressive, and the body rendered with a light, vibrant stroke testify to a careful exploration of movement and the purity of form—central characteristics of the artist's graphic output.
Technique: pencil on paper
Sheet size: approx. 20 × 30 cm
Dimensions with frame: approx. 30 × 40 cm
Signature: present, handwritten
Condition: overall good; there are some folds and slight waviness of the paper, consistent with its age and the nature of the support.
Frame: present, not contemporaneous.
Shipping
The artwork will be prepared and packed with the utmost care. However, postal shipping, while an economical option, is not the most suitable method for works on paper and frames and does not allow us to guarantee the absence of any damage, especially to the frames.
Upon request, we can arrange shipment through professional carriers specialized in the transport of artworks.
In-person pickup in Geneva remains the safest option. Even for shipments within Europe, longer processing times and customs formalities or duties may apply.
