Paul Van Hoeydonck (Antwerp, 8 October 1925 – Wijnegem, 3 May 2025
He was a Belgian painter and sculptor. He became famous for having created the sculpture known as the Fallen Astronaut, the only artistic artifact on extraterrestrial soil. A polychrome work, it features a stylized hand with vivid colors and a design that recalls the aesthetics of pop art and cybernetics.
It is an example of international graphics and artist's multiples. This work measures 70 × 50 cm (sheet size), (sc) color serigraphy, e.g. 236/300
Signature and date lower right
The image of this work was used for the poster of the A. Chicago exhibition in 1969 (see the last image in the photos)
Complete with the original frame from the period.
