Description from the seller

DESCRIPTION OF THE COLLECTION

Composition:

No. 3 pipe in meerschaum (sea foam)

Shape: compactly bent, coherent across the three specimens.

Mouthpieces: black ebonite, classic shaping

Frames: original metal bands with Peterson branding.

Condition: used, with authentic natural patina (honey–amber), typical of proper aging of meerschaum.

The three pipes form a cohesive collection in terms of style, period, and quality, clearly intended for regular use rather than decoration.

Technical Analysis and Materials

Bodies: natural solid meerschaum (not pressed)

Patina: natural, progressive, with no signs of artificial whitening.

Frames: silver-colored metal (nickel silver), with a legible inscription 'PETERSON'.

Assembly: classic Peterson, with a well-proportioned mouthpiece and proper fit.

Rooms: consistent with normal use, with no visible structural burn marks.

Probable dating

Estimated production period.
1960s – early 1980s

Reasons for dating:

Peterson metal frame styles

Type of ebonite mouthpiece

Absence of modern markings or late serializations.

Patina compatible with a lifespan of at least 40–60 years.

Peterson's meerschaum production still active at that time.

Condition of preservation

General: good / good for age (see photo)

Normal signs of wear

Even patina (positive element)

Whole Bocchini

Original frames, with normal surface oxidation.

They are not 'restored' pieces: the conservation is honest and collector-appropriate.

MARKET VALUE (2026)
Estimated single value (each)

EUR 180 – 260

(variable depending on the integrity of the chamber and the alignment of the mouthpiece)

Total value of the collection (3 pipes sold together)

EUR 600 – 800

Selling it in bulk as a coherent Peterson meerschaum collection is preferable and increases its appeal compared to selling it in fractions.
FINAL JUDGMENT
Authentic collection
Peterson historical production
Natural meerschaum properly patinated
Ideal for collectors or for specialized sales.
A collection of good quality, superior to the average of generic-market meerschaum.
