Artist biography:
Former tagger in the 1990s, Enigme09 discovered photomontage in 2009. Painter Jacques Monory reinforced the path he chose by suggesting a poetic approach to his art.
His compositions assemble elements from the world of advertising or popular culture and others from the corpus of the History of Art. Their mix is sharp, explosive, surprising, unsettling, but also invites reflection on the status of images and on a possible hierarchy of values among them.

The artist manages to give meaning to familiar signs, drained of all content due to their overabundance. But, of course, this meaning is most often far from their original signified. Enigme09 sums up his artistic credo in a concise formula: “give voice to images to open our eyes.”
