Description from the seller
Descrizione dell'oggetto
Object Description
This is an oil painting on canvas from the 1960s-1970s by Alfio Rapisardi, depicting a female portrait. Rapisardi's style combines Tuscan Renaissance tradition with avant-garde elements. The influence of the Renaissance is seen in the rational structure and geometric balance of his compositions. However, subjects are also deconstructed, creating a complex spatial effect reminiscent of Cubism and tending towards abstraction.

Summary of the Location:
City: Kassel, Germany (famed for its international contemporary art scene and the documenta exhibition).
Institution: The Kessel Foundation.
His presence in such a collection confirms his status as a significant figure in the 20th-century European avant-garde, bridging the gap between his Italian roots and international modernism.
There is a light scratch on the frame as seen in the photo, but barely visible otherwise.
