Dave Schweitzer (1972), The Monthly Battle, 2018, original mixed-media on paper (A2, 42 × 59.4 cm) in landscape, hand signed, in excellent condition, 2 kg, pink and yellow pop art with naïve figurative elements, Belgium.
Description from the seller
The Monthly Battle is an expressive, contemporary mixed-media artwork executed on paper in A2 format (approximately 42 × 59.4 cm), presented in landscape orientation. Signed on the back.
The composition is divided into two contrasting chromatic fields, creating a visual tension between opposing forces. On one side, warm yellow tones frame a raw, almost primitive figure rendered with bold outlines and simplified anatomy. On the other, a vivid pink background hosts abstract symbols, mask-like forms and graphic elements that suggest confrontation, ritual, or inner conflict. The strong use of primary colors, rough textures and childlike symbolism gives the work an immediate, visceral presence.
The drawing embraces a naïve and expressive visual language, reminiscent of outsider art and contemporary figurative abstraction. Lines are intentionally imperfect, and the imagery feels instinctive rather than decorative, reinforcing the emotional charge implied by the title.
This artwork is sold unframed, allowing the collector freedom in presentation. A compelling piece for collectors interested in raw contemporary expression, figurative abstraction, or works driven by narrative tension and symbolic contrast.
