Victor Vasarely, Kandahar, 1955, serigraphy on original paper, limited edition of 23 (7/23), hand-signed, framed, 40 x 30 cm, France, Op Art, in good condition.
Description from the seller
Screenprint on original paper “Kandahar”, made by Victor Vasarely in 1955, based on the artist’s painting dated 1951. It is an emblematic work from the early phase of Op Art, a movement of which Vasarely is widely recognized as founder and the main international reference.
The composition rests on a rigorous geometric structure, exploring relationships of form, color, and visual depth, creating dynamic optical effects that challenge the observer's perception. “Kandahar” is representative of Vasarely's pioneering investigation into the interaction between mathematics, art, and perception.
This screen print is hand-signed and numbered, belonging to a limited edition of only 23作, with this being number 7 of 23 as indicated on the lower margin and confirmed by the label in the bottom right corner.
Printed on fabric paper, the work shows good execution quality and a strong visual presence, being highly sought after by collectors of modern art and Op Art.
A museological piece, with historical significance and high collectible value, ideal for inclusion in modern art collections or reference contemporary spaces.
