Malick Sidibé (1935–2016) - Vintage Unique - Malick Sidibé (60' - 70')

Born in 1936 in Soloba, Mali. Died in Bamako in April 2016. Malick Sidibé's work is primarily known for his reportage photographs, taken at parties organized by young people fond of music and freedom, as the country prepared for independence.
In 1962, he opened the Studio Malick in Bamako. The studio portraiture will make up the vast majority of his work. People come from all over to have their portrait taken by the eye of Bamako… Discovered at the first Bamako Photography Encounters, he was exhibited at the Cartier Foundation in Paris and then in major galleries and museums around the world. He received the Hasselblad Award in 2003 and then the Golden Lion in 2007.
