Waterman Celuloide fountain pen with red/black mottled hard rubber appearance, from the early 20th century United States, 12 cm long and 1.1 cm in diameter, 14K gold nib, in good used condition with minor signs of aging and fully functional, supplied in a courtesy box.
Description from the seller
A0000001989
The pen is in very good overall condition for its age, preserving solid structural integrity and a highly attractive appearance.
The red/black mottled ebonite maintains a vivid and deep contrast, with well-defined veining and natural shine. A light, uniform surface oxidation is visible, typical of century-old hard rubber, without affecting the material’s stability. No cracks, fissures, or visible repairs are observed. The body remains in regular shape, without deformities.
The threads are well defined and functional, enabling a proper and secure seal. No severe wear is observed in the joining area.
The metal cap housing presents a homogeneous patina consistent with the passage of time, with superficial micro-scratches from use and small normal signs of handling. No structural dents or material loss are observed. The rivets and fasteners look firm.
The clip retains its original shape and proper alignment, showing surface wear that is consistent with its age.
The 14K gold nib maintains legible engravings and proper definition. No visible structural deformations or alterations in the overall alignment are observed. The tip appears intact.
All told, it is a well-preserved, complete, and genuine piece, with natural wear consistent with more than a century of age, but without compromising its functionality or its collectible value.
It will be sent in a courtesy box for its proper preservation.
