Description from the seller
This is a special and quite rare bottle of Glenfarclas. A limited edition that will be of particular interest to collectors and enthusiasts of heavy sherry "bombs."
These are the key details on the label:
The Facts
• Distillery: Glenfarclas (Speyside, Scotland).
• Bottled for: The Kirchhellener Private Tasting Circle. This is an independent bottling for a specific German tasting group/club.
• Distillation year: 2002.
• Bottling year: 2011 (9 years old).
• Cask type: First Fill Oloroso Sherry Casks (Cask numbers 2655 and 2658).
• Alcohol content: 55.1% (Cask Strength).
• Edition: Only 677 bottles were produced. The bottle pictured is number 239.
What makes this whisky unique:
1. Colour & Taste: The deep, dark colour (almost like cola or strong tea) comes from the "First Fill" Oloroso casks. Because this is the first time whisky has been aged in these casks after sherry, the wood imparts a tremendous amount of colour and flavour. Expect notes of dried fruit (raisins, figs), dark chocolate, espresso, and cloves.
2. Purity: The label states "no chill filtration - natural colour". The colour is therefore 100% from the cask, and the whisky has not been chill-filtered, preserving all the fatty oils and aromas.
3. Rarity: Because this was an exclusive bottling for a German club (Anam na h-Alba), this bottle is no longer commonly found in stores. This type of Glenfarclas is often sought after at auction by those who appreciate the distillery's powerful, undiluted style.
