Waterman 42 ½ V eyedropper fountain pen from the early 20th century, United States, with a black ebonite body and cap, 14K gold Waterman’s Ideal nib, 9.2 cm long and 0.9 cm in diameter, in good used condition and in working order.
Description from the seller
A0000002001
A specimen in very good overall condition, preserving the sober aesthetics and the distinctive character of Waterman vest-pocket pens from the early 20th century.
The body and cap in black ebonite exhibit a uniform, deep tone, with a natural satin sheen consistent with their age. Small superficial signs of wear and slight marks from the passage of time are visible only under direct light and upon close inspection. No structural cracks, fractures, or deformations are observed. The threads maintain a good fit and allow a firm and secure closure.
The original Waterman’s Ideal nib in solid 14K gold is complete and well aligned. The engraving remains clearly legible. It shows natural patina and light superficial marks consistent with its age, with no material loss or aggressive interventions. The heart-shaped breather is well preserved. The ebonite feed remains in correct position and fit.
The eyedropper system is intact, with a clean and functional interior. No alterations to the internal threading or visible repairs are observed.
Overall, it is an authentic and honest piece, with light wear consistent with more than a century of age, without invasive restorations and preserving its original character.
Pen ready for collection or careful use.
It will be sent in a courtesy box for its proper preservation.
Good auction!
