Biography
Junya Sato (1977, Miyagi, Japan) is a contemporary Japanese painter. He studied painting at Tama Art University in Tokyo and graduated in 2000.
At the center of his artistic practice is the transformation of everyday visual impressions into reduced, concentrated image compositions. Starting from inconspicuous fragments of imagery, Sato develops a calm, precise painting that engages with perception, memory, and visual memory.
His works have been shown internationally in solo and group exhibitions, including in Japan and Europe. Junya Sato lives and works in Japan and is among the representatives of contemporary Japanese painting, notable for a minimalist visual language and conceptual clarity.
