Description from the seller
Froissage/Alchimage on paper by LADISLAV NOVAK (1925-1999), one of the most significant artists of Eastern Europe in the second half of the 20th century, avant-garde poet and painter; creator of the technique of Froissage, developed also by the better known Jiri Kolár, and of Alchimage, also mixing them together. The work, realized in the Sixties/Seventies of the last century, measures 31x48 cm, mounted on a frame of 44x60x3 cm, signed and titled at the bottom right:
"La messe noir". Provenance from the renowned Schwarz Gallery (Milan).
The artist, trained at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague, was opposed by the regime in force at the time, thus he had greater diffusion in Western Europe: in Italy by the Schwarz Gallery of Milan, by the Morra Foundation of Naples, which defined him - the Delicate Alchemist -, by the Bonotto Foundation of Modena, by CAMeC of La Spezia, by MART of Trento and Rovereto, but his works are also present at the National Gallery of Prague, at the Morava Gallery of Brno, at the Centre Pompidou in Paris, at the Stedelijk Museum of Amsterdam.
The work, in excellent condition, well packed, is shipped with an insured Poste Italiane package.
