Description from the seller

Oil on canvas measuring 46 x 55 cm, signed in the lower left corner. The frame is not included in the sale but is sent as a gift.

Begoña Garma Iriarte (Bilbao 1944), born in Bilbao, began her artistic studies at the San Fernando Faculty of Fine Arts in Madrid, where she studied under teachers such as Antonio López, Villaseñor, and Guijarro, among others. She acquired the fundamental knowledge that served as the foundation for her future career as a painter.

They finished their studies in 1971, beginning their career in teaching, and alternating with exhibitions throughout Spain.

Begoña Garma Iriarte develops her work based on life experiences and emotional matters; her art is expressed through vital constants, with the knowledge she gained from the Facultad Superior de Bellas Artes de San Fernando in Madrid and her own effort. Her painting draws from the fibers of her culture and is shaped by subsequent impulses to become a concise narrative, while also serving as a memory. Born in Bilbao, Garma Iriarte became known in Basque artistic circles in the first half of the seventies, participating in numerous exhibitions across Spain. Having recently graduated in painting and drawing and accumulated experience through contact with masters who showed her what can be taught in art—the background, contributions of many, the language of forms and figures, and the standards that, as a starting point, are essential knowledge. It was like possessing the tool her profession demanded; the skill she continued to develop, the discourse that already appeared as a framework but made sense.

He has held exhibitions in cities such as Bilbao, Barcelona, Madrid, Tarragona, Valladolid, Pamplona, Málaga, and New York.
