Description from the seller
Luciano Torsi (Arezzo, November 27, 1937 – Livorno, October 10, 2024) was an Italian painter best known for his luminous and evocative Tuscan landscapes.
He has often been described as the 'painter of the woods': his paintings depict forests, streams, blooming meadows, and pastoral views filled with light and color, with an approach close to the Italian landscape painting tradition.
His paintings are characterized by a strong visual and chromatic component that aims to evoke tranquil and harmonious natural atmospheres.
Born in Arezzo, he moved at a young age to Livorno, a city to which he remained strongly attached for his entire life.
He was self-taught, that is, he did not follow a traditional academic path, but he developed his art on his own by gradually correcting his mistakes and refining his technique over time.
They have exhibited in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Italy and abroad (e.g., Lima, Cincinnati, Toronto, Paris).
He has been included in prestigious Italian art lists and catalogs, such as the Yearbook of Tuscan painters and the Dictionary of Contemporary European Painting of Milan, with citations in Bolaffi catalogs from the 1970s.
