Description from the seller
Japanese Bamboo Ikebana Basket – Sculptural Openwork Form – Handwoven Vintage Piece
This elegant Japanese bamboo basket is a refined example of traditional handwoven craftsmanship. Formed in a rounded, sculptural silhouette, the basket features a dynamic openwork structure with gracefully arched bamboo elements that intersect at the top, creating a striking geometric harmony.
The lower body is tightly woven in a herringbone pattern, while the upper sections unfold into fan-like radiating ribs, showcasing the natural flexibility and strength of bamboo. The warm brown patina reflects careful smoking and aging, enhancing the depth of color and texture.
Please note that the inner bamboo cylinder is not included. If used as a flower vase, a small glass or container should be placed inside the basket to hold water.
Lightweight yet structurally expressive, this piece works beautifully as an ikebana-style flower basket (with insert) or as a sculptural decorative object representing the refined aesthetics of Japanese bamboo art.
