Kurt Schwerdtfeger (1897-1966) - Katze mit Vogel

Kurt Schwerdtfeger (born 1897 in Poland, died 1966 in Hildesheim) studied at the Bauhaus in Weimar from 1920 to 1924, and was appointed head of the sculpture department at the Werkkunstschule Stettin. In 1937 he was dismissed from teaching, his works were slandered as "degenerate" and removed from museums.

It is a woodcut print signed within the print (lower right), featuring a stylized cat looking to the left, holding a bird in its mouth.
It is a limited edition (in pencil "54 / 100").

The picture has been in my father's possession since the early 1960s and remains in the family to this day.
