Rated Excellent on Trustpilot.
Waterman Ideal 52 'red ripple' fountain pen, made of plastic/ebonite, from the United States and dating to the mid-20th century, in good used condition with minor signs of wear, 14.1 cm long and 1.2 cm in diameter, featuring a solid gold Waterman’s Ideal No. 5 nib and a complete, functional lever-fill system.
Description from the seller
A0000001981
The pen shows a very good overall state of preservation, especially notable considering its age.
The body and the cap in Red Ripple ebonite preserve an excellent definition of the marbled pattern, with deep colors and well-contrasted veins, without severe discolorations or significant loss of shine.
No cracks, fissures, or structural repairs are observed in the body or the cap. The material shows only light signs of use and micro-surface marks, consistent with an original piece from the period and visible only under close inspection.
The metal elements — lever, clip and central band — are complete and original, with light, homogeneous wear to the gold plating, typical of normal use and the passage of time, with no deformations or play.
The Waterman’s Ideal No. 5 nib in solid gold is in good structural condition, correctly aligned and without cracks. It is important to note that the nib is HARD (no flex), offering a firm and controlled writing, suitable for those who prefer stable and consistent strokes. It has no modifications or cuts.
The lever-fill system is complete and functional, although, as is usual with antique pens, it is recommended to check or replace the ink sac before continued use.
Overall, this is an authentic, well-preserved and honest piece, ideal for both collection and writing, always with proper adjustment beforehand.
It will be shipped in a courtesy box for its proper preservation.
Good auction!
