Platter - Porcelain - "Sanyang Kaitai" dish
Fine Chinese Famille Rose Footed Dish – "Sanyang Kaitai" Motif.
An exceptionally attractive and well-preserved Chinese Famille Rose porcelain footed dish, dating to the second half of the 20th century. This piece features a distinct, lobed "cloud-shape" or quatrefoil rim, elevated by a sturdy, high foot rim.
The interior is vibrantly hand-painted with a joyful scene of three young boys (acolytes) playing in a garden landscape with two goats. This specific imagery represents the auspicious Chinese idiom "Sanyang Kaitai" (三阳开泰), which symbolizes the arrival of spring and a wish for good fortune and prosperity.
The central scene is framed by a rich, cobalt-blue ground border embellished with intricate "scroll and flower" (karakusa) patterns in the famille rose palette. The underside is decorated with iron-red stylized bats or calligraphic symbols, further enhancing the piece's themes of luck and longevity.
