Mario Merz (1925-2003) - Les feuilles et les briques

First appearance in 2008 at the world's most important auction, in Paris, where it did not sell at the starting price of 5,000 euros with an estimate of 5,000/7,000.
Then in Belgium, in 2023, in a very famous auction titled: "Dear Mr Hat. Works on paper from the Hoet archive III" where many of the works Hoet had received as gifts from his artist friends were exhibited.

Jan Hoet studied art history and archaeology. From 1975, he was the director of the Stedelijk Museum voor Actuele Kunst (SMAK) in Ghent, Belgium. He curated major international contemporary art exhibitions, including Chambres d'amis in Ghent and Documenta IX (1992) in Kassel. From 2003 to 2008, he was the director of MARTa Herford, a museum for contemporary art and design in Herford. He created the colossal exhibition in Osnabrücker Land.
