Description from the seller
Denmark – Close reading (1989)
- From the UA Art Edition 2 folder
This work by the Belgian artist Denmark was published in 1989 as part of the prestigious UA Kunsteditie 2 portfolio, a limited-edition art edition in which several contemporary artists were represented.
The offered copy is a Hors Commerce (H.C.) print, designated as I/XX. H.C. copies were traditionally not intended for regular sale and are typically produced in smaller quantities than the numbered edition, which increases the collectible value.
Within Denmark's body of work, where text, fragmentation, and conceptual imagery are central, Close reading is a representative work from the late 1980s — a period in which textual and analytical structures played an important role in contemporary art practice.
