Description from the seller
Amazing museum-quality color print of the photograph that was captured by the Spanish artist photographer Cristina de Middel from famous agency Magnum Photos. The print is framed in black wooden frame with white passpartout.
This photograph from the series "The Afronauts." 2012.
The project is a historically important work that is always mentioned when talking about the boom in independent/self-published photo books in the 2010s. In 1964, Zambian science teacher Edward Makuka decided to train for the first African lunar crew. His plan was to launch one woman, two cats, and one missionary into space using an aluminum rocket and a catapult system to first reach the moon and then Mars. Founding the Zambia National Academy of Science, Space Research, and Astronomy at its headquarters just 20 miles from the capital, Lusaka, Makuka began training his Afronauts (a portmanteau of "astronaut" and "Afro").
Photographer: Cristina de Middel / Magnum Photos
Technique: Photography, Landscape, Documentary
Size: 15,3 x 15,3 cm
Authenticity: Work signed by the artist
Frame: black wooden frame 27,5 x 27,5 см with white passpartout.
