Zippo commemorative 50th anniversary of D-Day, a steel-bodied lighter with a Black Crackle finish, produced in the United States in 1994, complete with round tin box, instruction sheet and protective white fabric, in excellent condition and barely used.
Description from the seller
50th Anniversary D-Day Commemorative Zippo.
Produced in 1994, in excellent condition and used very little.
It comes with the round tin box free of scratches, complete with the perfect instruction sheet and the white protective cloth.
• Commemoration: Celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Normandy landings, covering the period 1944-1994.
It is made with a steel case wrapped in a special finish called Black Crackle.
This model was designed to faithfully replicate the lighters produced during World War II.
Body and Case:
Unlike the classic brass Zippos, this commemorative model uses steel.
During the war, brass was scarce and reserved for ammunition, forcing Zippo to switch to steel.
Black Crackle Finish:
This is a rough, baked-on black enamel finish, originally introduced to prevent the steel from rusting and to prevent the metal’s reflection from revealing the soldiers’ positions.
Emblem:
On the front, there is a solid brass badge bearing the inscription "D-Day Normandy 50 years 1944-1994".
All original and fully functional.
