HOMAGE TO CHIRICO is a 70x100 cm painting by contemporary artist Ernest García. It is a composition that openly dialogues with the tradition of metaphysical painting, reinterpreted from a contemporary sensibility and a bold chromatic vibrancy. The bust —a direct reference to the Greco-Roman tradition— becomes a symbol of the past, of cultural memory and of permanence. Beside it, the geometric architecture of the background —red walls, vertical structures, perspectives opening onto a silent city— evokes the deserted squares and theatrical settings characteristic of Italian metaphysical painting. Depth is suggested, but never fully resolved: the space seems real and at the same time mental.

The glove suspended on the wall introduces a disturbing, almost dreamlike element that breaks the logic of the whole. It is an out-of-context object, charged with symbolic ambiguity: absence, latent presence, a gesture frozen in time. At the far right, the linear silhouette of a cat drawn in a gold outline reinforces that sense of silent vigilance, as if the scene were being watched from another dimension.

The treatment of color provides a contemporary reading. Intense reds, deep blues, and saturated yellows recall the expressive freedom of Fauvism, but here chromaticism is not merely decorative: it builds psychological tension. The contrasts create a mood that oscillates between the theatrical and the introspective.

The composition is carefully balanced between the solid and the intangible. The objects have sculptural weight, while the space seems to expand toward an uncertain horizon. This duality is the conceptual core of the work: the visible as a mask for the invisible.
