Description from the seller
THE GAME is a 70x100 cm painting by contemporary artist Ernest García. This painting becomes an enigma. A finger held upright maintains the balance of a ball of thread suspended in the air. Facing him, the silhouette of a cat — drawn with a simple black line, almost childlike — watches in quiet concentration. The scene is stark, almost bare, but charged with poetic tension.
The coral-colored background creates a warm, enveloping atmosphere that contrasts with the almost sculptural serenity of the finger. The sphere, painted with a delicately textured finish, seems to float in a suspended moment, just before it falls. The cat, reduced to a contour, is not a physical body but an idea: curiosity, waiting, the contained impulse.
The composition plays with scale and reality. The finger appears monumental, isolated, almost architectural. The shadow projected onto the wooden floor adds depth and anchors the scene in a tangible space, while the suspended ball quietly defies gravity. There is something metaphysical in simplicity: a common object elevated into a symbol. The play here is not merely playful; it is a metaphor for balance, the moment before action, the tension between control and desire.
The work explores the minimal gesture as an event. The line in front of the volume. The presence in front of expectation.
In "The Game", the absurd and the delicate coexist in a silent space where everything seems about to happen.
