This large and impressive painting is by Brazilian artist Rodrigo Izolag and depicts the influential American blues singer, guitarist, and songwriter John Lee Hooker. Together with his partner and fellow artist Ananda Nahu, Izolag travels the world, where they first capture their impressions in photographic reports. These images then form the starting point for a “visual conversation” that translates into painting. Their work is often politically charged and always socially engaged, offering its own perspective on reality.
Terms such as graffiti art, moralism, and urban art are often used to describe Izolag's work, but none of these terms fully capture its essence. The complexity, both in imagery and in content, is ultimately best experienced rather than described. Where words have their limits, the feeling gets room to breathe.

Thanks to our effective auction methodology, we are able to reach a large international audience, while our art collections are safely stored and insured in our 1,000 m² building in Nuenen.
