E. García presents RETRATOS AZULES XL, a 100 × 70 cm original acrylic painting from 2026, hand-signed and depicting a blue-dominated landscape with two figures at a table, offered directly by the artist.
Description from the seller
RETRATOS AZULES is a 70x100 cm painting by the contemporary artist Ernest García. The everyday scene is transformed into an emotionally suspended territory. Two figures share a table, space, and silence, but not necessarily thought. The work captures that moment in which physical closeness does not imply inner communion.
Chromatic treatment is decisive: blues dominate the psychology of composition. They are not merely a formal device; they are a mood. The figures seem sculpted by melancholy, wrapped in a cool temperature that contrasts with the intense red architecture of the background. That red, vibrant and structural, acts as a dramatic counterpoint, generating tension between interiority and surroundings.
The black lines that define the figures give a graphic bluntness that evokes a modern sensibility, akin to certain post-Fauvist idioms and to the expressive synthesis of twentieth-century art. Formal simplification does not reduce depth; on the contrary, it concentrates it.
The diverted looks — one toward the side void, the other toward their own thoughts — underline the silent narrative. The hands cupping the face, the repeated gesture, build an emotional mirror between the two figures. In front of them, two glasses — one larger, the other smaller — introduce a subtle symbolism of proportion, experience, or generational distance.
The space is carefully structured in defined chromatic planes: red, blue, yellow. There is no complex perspective; there is compositional balance. The yellow square on the wall functions almost like a sign, an abstract window, an encapsulated thought.
"Blue Portraits" does not tell an explicit story: it offers an atmosphere. It is a painting about waiting, introspection, and unspoken dialogue. Its strength lies in the formal economy and in the emotional precision with which color substitutes for the word.
A work of serene presence but psychologically intense, where modern figuration becomes a vehicle for a contained and timeless emotion.
