LAS TRES NINFAS is a 70x100 cm painting by contemporary artist Ernest García. In this painting the artist reinterprets the classical myth from a contemporary sensibility, suspending the female body between primitive innocence and absolute freedom. Three naked figures float in the sky, linked by hands in a gesture of complicity and sisterhood, immune to gravity and time.

The composition dialogues with the pictorial tradition of the Graces and the Renaissance nymphs, but here the landscape is not an idealized mythological setting, but a small village with architecture that is almost naïve, domestic, and intimate. This tension between the everyday and the mythical forms the true conceptual axis of the work: the extraordinary happens over the ordinary.

The figures, bathed in an intense warm yellow, evoke the expressive use of color in Fauvism. The body is not modeled from academic chiaroscuro, but from chromatic vibration. Yellow is not flesh; it is light, vital energy, a solar symbol. The anatomy is deliberately simplified, granting prominence to gesture and to the compositional rhythm.

The grayish, dense, and clouded sky contrasts with the luminosity of the figures, reinforcing their ethereal condition. They do not fly in a dramatic fashion: they float with serenity. Their closed faces suggest a state of trance or inner communion. The connection between them is circular, choreographic, almost musical.

The flowering tree, on the right, acts as a terrestrial counterpoint: it represents fertility, the natural cycle, and rooted life. Opposite it, the nymphs embody the aerial, the free, the spiritual. The work thus oscillates between earth and sky, between root and flight.
