Acrylic on canvas, 'When the Dog Dies', 2017
61 x 50 cm, ready to hang.
Sold by Recodier Art, France
This work is among the last on-canvas pieces still available from the artist's 2016–2017 period.
DOCUMENTATION :
A dated and signed certificate of authenticity is included.
DESCRIPTION :
Iconic composition of the 2016–2017 period, characterized by structured spaces and isolated stylized figures within a deliberately pared-down pictorial field.
In the center, a large light gray heart-shaped form creates a zone of visual concentration, inside which a stylized animal figure appears. The blue, expressive and fragile gaze immediately establishes an emotional connection with the viewer. The whole is framed by a broad mauve mass with softened lines, while the upper part, rhythmically patterned with yellow and blue organic motifs, introduces a subtle graphic tension.
The surface reveals precise work with the material: layers, variations in opacity, and incised traces in the still-wet paint. These visible scratches are not cracks but are an integral part of the artistic process and contribute to the surface’s vibration.
The work combines economy of means, symbolic force, and expressive restraint—characteristics of this structured phase of the artist's practice.
Original work created in 2017.
Very good state of preservation.
The frame visible in some photos is shown for illustration purposes. The artwork is sold without a frame.
