Description from the seller
1980, Japan, Hoshino Gakki by Ibanez, CIMAR C660BS.
It's a fantastic instrument, and that's impressive in itself: the woods, after the seasoning before it is made, can boast another 45 years or more.
High-quality structure:
soundboard in solid wood (research suggests red spruce, but the tight, straight grain recalls cherry wood), back and sides in mahogany as well as the neck, fingerboard and bridge in rosewood.
The mechanics are simple, but precise and stable.
The scale length is the typical 648 mm of a dreadnought.
All these characteristics produce a powerful, sweet and harmonious sound, and the oval soundhole superbly highlights the mid frequencies.
The projection is powerful and the sustain is extremely long.
Aesthetically, she looks really good:
red sunburst finish with a distinctive tortoiseshell pickguard and elegant white-and-black multi-ply binding on the top, black binding between the back and the natural-colored sides.
It shows a few signs of wear, especially under the neck and on the pickguard, but these are truly negligible in light of over 45 years of honorable service.
A treatment with beeswax was applied to the varnished woods and straw-colored oil to the raw wood, while the chrome fittings were polished with an acetic solution.
All its beauty is protected by a very sturdy ROCKCASE hard case by WARWICK, with a velvet interior and a fabric outer lining.
Anyway, regardless of the evident collectible value given by their splendid overall condition despite the aging, what truly matters is that it delivers an extraordinary sound with magnificent playability, thanks also to the frets finely leveled and to a very low action; at the 12th fret 2 mm for the 6th string and 1.5 mm for the 1st.
It will be shipped in suitably bomb-proof packaging.
All that remains for me is to wish the future owner good sound!
