DESCRIPTION OF THE WORK FROM THE ARTIST
"Epidermide" was born in 2023 from an idea of overlay: not a change of style, but the attempt to push my mark further, filling the space with space itself. At the beginning the work lived without a frame; the black frame arrived later, as a subsequent choice, almost a gesture of containment: a way to hold the energy and give it a limit.
The title, "Epidermide" (Epidermis), is the key to reading. I imagined the painting as a body made of layers: underneath there is living skin, the red, which remains warm, pulsating, present; above black enters, more compact, like a protective barrier that organizes, compresses and defends. It is as if the mark repeats itself with two different roles: one more internal and sensitive, the other more external and structural.
In some points the two levels meet and they “collide,” and from there a sense of depth arises, almost three-dimensional: not due to perspective, but due to the distance between what lies beneath and what dominates above. For me, “Epidermide” is exactly this: a thin boundary between inside and outside, between fragility and protection, between impulse and control.
"What does this work communicate to you?"
ARTIST
I am Pietro Fight, a visual artist based in Milan. My research is a "gestural writing": sign-based calligraphic abstractions in which circular forms and nets of signs build rhythm, density and breath. I’m interested in weight in space, the balance between fullness and emptiness, between accumulation and suspension, between intensity of the mark and zones of visual silence. This language emerged in 2020, during the Covid period, turning the boredom of repetitive daily routine into construction and variation. Even if the method is repetitive, every work remains unrepeatable, because every circle and every trace is always different.
I exclusively offer original works (no prints), hand-signed and accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity signed and with a customized ink stamp. Careful shipping and availability for photos, videos and in-depth information on request.
