Description from the seller
HIGOS Y LIMONES is a 70x100 cm painting by contemporary artist Ernest García. In this work, the contrast between deep blue and vibrant yellow builds a scene of Mediterranean intensity. The composition is organized around two white ceramic bowls resting on an ornamental background of dynamic blue strokes, almost calligraphic, that evoke traditional tiles.
Figs, opened and closed, reveal their duality: a dark, matte exterior versus fleshy, reddish interiors, full of texture and seeds. Lemons, for their part, radiate light. Their yellow surfaces, worked with loose and decisive brushstrokes, seem to capture the clarity of the sun and project it onto the surrounding environment.
The use of blue not only builds the background, but also invades the shadows and defines the volumes, creating a fresh and immersive atmosphere. Painting does not seek hyperrealism, but the energy of the gesture and the vibrancy of color. The visible brushstrokes provide rhythm and movement, making the scene feel alive.
The dialogue between the organic and the decorative is essential: the fruits rest on a space that is not neutral, but active and ornamental, creating a play between figure and ground that enriches the visual reading.
The work conveys abundance, freshness, and chromatic sensuality. It is a still life that celebrates matter, light, and the Mediterranean tradition from a contemporary and expressive perspective.
