Description from the seller
TABLE AT SUNSET is a 70 by 100 cm painting by contemporary artist Ernest García. In this painting, light is the true guiding thread of the scene. A pink coral background, warm and enveloping, suggests the exact moment when the sun begins to descend. The wall becomes a stage where the projected shadows —long, defined, almost theatrical— quietly narrate the presence of the day as it says farewell.
The composition centers around a table covered with a blue-and-white striped tablecloth, whose geometric rhythm guides the eye toward the center. On it, a Mediterranean still life: vibrant lemons, a bottle of wine, glazed ceramics in deep blue, and an olive branch that adds verticality and organic freshness.
The chromatic contrast between the intense yellows of the lemons and the ceramic blues creates a harmonic tension, balanced by the warmth of the background. The visible brushstrokes add texture and character, moving away from hyperrealism to embrace an expressive and luminous synthesis.
The transparency of the glass with lemon slices and the reflections on the dishware suggest an intimate atmosphere, almost suspended in time. There are no human figures, but the table is set: it’s a scene that anticipates a meeting, conversation, a pause.
The work conveys serenity and everyday celebration. It is a homage to small rituals — a shared meal, a glass of wine, the scent of freshly cut lemon — under the golden light of the sunset.
