Mid‑20th century hand‑hammered copper planter, 32 cm long, 15 cm wide and 13.5 cm high, with solid brass Mascaron/Bacchus‑style decorative handles and an aged patina.
Description from the seller
A substantial vintage jardinière crafted from hand-hammered copper, featuring a classic elongated oval shape. This piece is particularly notable for its two robust brass handles, intricately cast with Mascaron/Bacchus-style ornamental faces, adding a touch of mythological elegance.
Material: Hand-hammered copper body with solid brass decorative handles.
Texture: The hammered surface creates a beautiful play of light and shadow, characteristic of traditional metalwork.
Dimensions: Length 32 cm (excluding handles), Width 15 cm, Height 13.5 cm.
General Appearance: Good vintage condition with an authentic aged patina. The interior shows natural oxidation (verdigris) consistent with use as a planter.
Stability: Please note the base is not perfectly flat, resulting in a slight wobble when placed on a hard surface. This is a common trait in older, hand-crafted copperware.
Details: Visible soldering and traditional construction points (as shown in photos) confirm its vintage origin.
Period Estimate
Mid-20th Century (approx. 1930-1960).
