Description from the seller
FRUITS AND ORCHIDS is a 70 by 100 cm painting by contemporary artist Ernest García. In this work, nature appears exuberant and ceremonial, organized in a frontal composition that celebrates color and ornamentation. The white orchids, delicate and sinuous, rise from a dark vase decorated with floral motifs, creating a dialogue between the real and the painted, between the living flower and the flower represented on the ceramic.
The intense red background envelops the scene with vibrant, theatrical energy. This red does not act as a mere backdrop, but as an emotional force that amplifies the deep greens of the leaves and the bright tones of the fruit. At the base, yellow, red, and green apples provide visual weight and balance, anchoring the composition with their rounded volume and their almost tactile shine.
The vase, with a glossy finish and meticulous decoration, becomes the structural focal point of the work. Its surface reflects light and color, creating contrasts with the soft matte of the background. The small stacks of plates on one side suggest domestic intimacy, reinforcing the idea of a contemporary still life with echoes of classical styles.
The brushwork is loose but decisive; the defined contours and chromatic contrasts recall a Fauvist sensibility, in which color is the absolute protagonist.
It is a work that speaks of abundance, elegance, and presence: an everyday scene elevated to a visual celebration.
