THE WORK PRESENTED TITLED 'THE END' is an etching.
(The work is wrapped in cellophane paper for better conservation).
He held his first solo exhibition in Paris in 1970 at the gallery La Bazarine, where his attraction to the diminutive in his drawings, which he calls 'blind drawings'—almost microscopic—became evident, and were accompanied by magnifying glasses to observe them.[13] This exhibition was followed by more than 100 solo shows around the world, more than 400 group exhibitions, and several retrospectives of his cinematographic and videographic work, among which notable ones include the Cinémathèque française—Musée du Cinéma in Paris in 1971,[14] the Centre Pompidou in 1975, the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris in 1977, the National Film Theatre in London in 1979, the Anthology Film Archives in New York in 1990,[15] and the celebrated MACBA retrospective in 2010 on the occasion of the Parallel Benet Rossell exhibition,[16][17][18] where unreleased pieces, reissues, and restorations were presented for the occasion.[19][20][21]
In the 1980s he alternated his stays in Paris with long periods in Amsterdam and New York, where he moved within the avant-garde movements, finally settling in Barcelona in the mid-1980s to continue tirelessly working in his world of infinite signs. He died at 78 years old, from complications of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).
