Plaza de Palacio, an oil on canvas urban landscape from the European School, signed by hand, original edition, 86.4 x 99.3 cm with frame.
Description from the seller
Title: Palace Square
School: European School (20th Century)
Style: Impressionist
Technique: Oil on canvas
Urban scene with a markedly luminous atmosphere depicting the emblematic Palace Square, capturing a daily moment under clear and vibrant light. The composition is structured through a dynamic play of tree masses that frame the scene from the top and sides, generating depth and guiding the eye toward the architectural background.
In the foreground, there is a terrace with tables and figures conversing under parasols in reddish and yellow tones, creating an interesting chromatic contrast with the intense greens of the vegetation. The brushwork is loose, pasty, and expressive, characteristic of an impressionist interpretation where catching the light and atmosphere takes precedence over meticulous detail.
In the distance, the classical architecture integrates naturally into the scene, highlighting a pedestal sculpture that provides verticality and compositional balance. The presence of vehicles and passers-by reinforces the urban and contemporary character of the representation. The treatment of shadows projected onto the pavement adds dynamism and a sense of spatial depth.
Artwork signed in the lower left corner (signature not identified).
Frame: Golden wooden frame with classical molding and an inner textile mat in beige. The whole encloses the work elegantly, adding warmth and sobriety, in keeping with the urban theme and the canvas’s color palette.
Observations:
Good overall condition for its age.
Dimensions:
86.4 x 99.3 cm (with frame)
61 x 73.3 cm (without frame)
The frame comes as a gift. It may show damages during transport even with proper packing.
The works are shipped uninsured and, if you wish to request insurance for the artwork during transport, you must let us know beforehand via private message. If not requested, we will not be responsible for any damages that may occur during transport.
Exceptionally, shipping costs may be affected by surcharges due to factors such as being outside a continental territory, or due to the item’s dimensions or weight. PremiArt will in no case be responsible for these surcharges.
Due to border issues with Switzerland, we are obliged to inform you that shipments to that destination with a length or height exceeding 1 meter will not be carried out.
