Author:
Antoni Vinyas Rius was a Catalan painter active during the 20th century, mainly focused on rural landscapes and scenes of a folkloric character. His work is characterized by a loose, tactile brushwork, with special attention to capturing natural light and the representation of Mediterranean agricultural surroundings. His oeuvre reflects a clear impressionist influence in the atmospheric and chromatic treatment.
The composition presents a vineyard scene in full peasant activity. In the foreground, cultivated land with pruned vines is spread out, arranged in rows that create depth and visual rhythm. Several human figures work the land, adding dynamism and reinforcing the narrative and folkloric character of the scene.
In the middle ground, a slope of reddish earth stands out, structuring the composition horizontally. On it grow trees with autumn foliage in intense yellows and greens, creating a vibrant contrast with the pale blue sky in the background. The brushwork is loose, with visible impasto areas that add texture and spontaneity. The palette is built from ochres, siennas, and earthy greens, achieving a warm and luminous atmosphere typical of the Mediterranean landscape.
Perspective is resolved through the overlapping planes and chromatic variation, generating a natural sense of spatial depth.
The artwork is presented framed in a dark wooden frame with a glossy finish. It features decorative relief molding with carved beads on the inner and outer edge. The frame shows visible flaws, in keeping with the passage of time.
