Description from the seller
Title: Portrait of a Lady
School: European School (XX)
Style: Late Impressionist
Technique: Oil on canvas
Intimate scene portraying a young lady seated in a garden, captured in a moment of contemplation while she engages in sewing. The figure is elegantly dressed in a long pink-toned dress with flowing fall and delicate luminous treatment, complemented by a light scarf providing contrast and chromatic softness.
The composition develops in an outdoor, bucolic space, with lush vegetation in the background and a small table in the foreground on which rests an apple, an element that balances the scene and adds depth. At the foot of the figure is arranged a bouquet of vibrant colors, worked with loose and vibrant brushwork.
The atmospheric handling of the surroundings, along with the capture of natural light and the brisk brushwork in the backgrounds and vegetation, recall a late Impressionist language, while the more defined modeling of the face and hands evidences a solid academic foundation. The scene conveys serenity, introspection, and bourgeois refinement characteristic of European painting in the 20th century.
The work is presented in a carved gilded wooden frame, richly ornamented with vegetal motifs and a relief perimeter frieze. The finish shows patina consistent with its age, with slight wear and small flaws typical of the passage of time, not affecting its structural or overall aesthetic function.
Notes:
The work is in generally good conservation condition for its age, showing slight surface signs typical of time.
The frame is included. It may show damage during transport even with proper packaging.
Dimensions: 52.7 x 67.3 cm
Dimensions without frame: 41.9 x 56 cm
The works are shipped uninsured, and if you wish to insure transport, this must be requested beforehand by private message. If not requested, we will not be responsible for any possible damage during transport.
Exceptionally, shipping costs may be affected by an surcharge due to reasons such as being outside a continental territory, excess size, or weight of the item. PremiArt will not be responsible for this surcharge.
Due to issues at the border with Switzerland, we are obligated to inform that shipments longer than 1 meter in length or height to that destination will not be carried out.
